Starting my blog

By Trevor Yao

Everyone does it, and now I’m finally doing it … again! The first time I started to write on a blog was back in 2004 when UEFA European Championship was going on. I remember it was an exciting summer because I knew Greek’s going to do something big in the tournament. Boy, they surely knew how to satisfy me — winning the glorious trophy!

I digressed …

Anyway, the effort of writing on a blog has winded off into a distant memory and I guess I’ve got two reasons why I failed doing it. The first is that I didn’t know what to write about. And the second is that I wasn’t content with my narrative skills.

Having said that, I think I’ve gotta overcome that two little shortcomings if I want this blog to be survived. I’m going to write about my endeavors on my personal development, an area I’ve dabbled with since time immemorial! Or since I was a teenager anyway.

The second part that I’m not satisfied with YET, I reckon, is the key to the survival of this blog. My Chinese friends might already have this question that why I don’t write it in Chinese. Well honestly, that’s mainly because Karen ( a very nice mormon lady who’s currently living in Colorado) told me that my English is understandable, and that’s just it! I know how I could understand a foreigner who speaks Chinese with sporadic words in a sentence and I could guess the whole idea most of the time that he/she is trying to express. So I take what Karen told me as she had the same feeling as I did of those crappy Chinese speakers. Frustratingly yet ambitiously, I decide to improve it systematically. How? Well, that’s another question. *chuckle*. In addition, I guess as I go along with writing my blog, I will know how to write things that are interesting to read. Hopefully.

Humm, I guess, basically, that’s it. Now begins a new era of my life! Cheers!

hey bro, glad to hear that u have had a blog finally.
well, a blog is nothing else than a place to pull ur feelings on, as what i think. so do not mind how many or how often u are gonna put things on it, just write when u feel that u like to write sth, that’s it.
as for writing in english, well, just be urself, write in ur own style, and tell u what, ur english is way better than what i thought it could be, good job, man!
waiting to see ur next article…..
    cheers!

Ah! Guess what, you were the second person who commented on my blog! Love it! The first one is Karen, as I have clarified above, she’s one NICE & WARM-HEARTED lady! She commented on my “about” page where nothing is on yet. I’m not sure why she didn’t put it on here, why, Karen? I guess her input foreshadows I have to put something in there too. Tricky! That’s an “ABOUT” page, which means, do I have to paste my resume there? :P Huh, if I could get hired from it, I’m sure I will be more than happy to do it!

Back to you, bro, how have you been? How’s the job hunting in Sydney? I can’t think of one reason people wouldn’t hire you. You are smart, tall, handsome, anyone alive would be attracted to ya! :D

Hey, we are buddies, you are more than welcome to be here. And I actually am very glad to be able to hear from you now and then. Remember we used to go to the electronic market together every week? Boy, that was one of the highlights of my college life.

This site is still a bit messy, yet with so many alternative plugins, I shall light it up. Right now, the ‘about’ hyperlink is on the sidebar and I think I’ll leave it that way until I figure out a better place to put it. I also am allowed to create new pages, which is cool, even though I haven’t found the necessity to do it any time soon.

And hell yeah, the celebration is indispensable when the time fits. How about I coming to Sydney to see ya!

    As if!

Well, seriously, if I could get a visa, I probably would, but that also relies on the presumption that my boss will spare me a fine bonus by the end of this year so that I could pay the airfare and the hotel expenditure. I heard Sydney is one of those cities that would completely rip you off of your pocket and squeeze you out. *Deep breathing*

Alrighty, time for bed. Hope the bed bugs won’t bite me. ;)

hi there, i linked here to my space yesterday, so now i need not to remember the damn site address of this site anymore, lol~~

well, as u mentioned the time we went to electronic market everyweek, god i miss that, such a happy time, isn’t it?

haha, no worries abt the hotel expenditure when u decide to come here buddy, as long as i have a place to live, u can always stay here free of charge, lol. and for ur airfare, i am confident that i can afford some of it for ya when i finally get a steady part time job, which i believe won’t take a very long time. the only thing u need to decide is ur time, arrange couple of spare days between november and march to come here (which is the best time to visit this country with beautiful sunshine and beaches), im waiting for ya!

oh, right, i saw ur message left on my space, well, that is canberra, a city of ghost, i could barely see a car running when i walked down the street. any if u wanna see locals in sydney, i have lots of pics in other albums on my space, enjoy!

and by the way, is the time displayed here american time? i am a little confused when did u put last reply on since sounded like u missed bed so badly, lol

The time by default is GMT I think, I didn’t bother to modify it. I shall add 8 hours to make it Beijing time or minus 5 to be EST.

Thank you for the generous offer, buddy, I know you will. You’ve never been stingy and that would win you a lotta friends. Who’d refuse money anyway? LOL. Kidding. You know I won’t take it for granted. I suppose. ;)

Grrrr, I’m staying up late again, it’s nearly 1 AM! Okay, I’ll save it now and go brush my teeth and then go to bed! Good night and sleep tight!

You write in English for IMPROVING ENGLISH?

I’m afraid I don’t agree with you at this point.

If you are writing it while still paying attention about the proper words, grammar, stuff like that, are you sure you will put down your feeling exactly right at that time?

To me, Just write what I think, no matter English or Chinese. The stupid mistakes on spelling or grammar or whatever repflect true~~

    What do you think?

Maybe that’s why there is no sign of progress in my English…
