Okay, this is exciting. Today I accidentally found this awesome site Stage6 when I was skimming over Doom9. Stage6 is a high quality video sharing website where users can upload,view and share high quality video clips encoded with DivX video codec, kinda like Youtube, but better in many ways:
- Stage6 supports higher resolutions up to 1080P! You’ll notice quite a lot of videos out there are 720P or higher!
- Stage6 allows low-bandwidth users to download the videos without having to watch them online like Youtube. And you don’t even need a third-party tool or plugin to do that!
- Stage6 has no restriction on the video playback length, which means you could view a whole movie or TV episode over there.
- Stage6 has a tremendous internet connection. Therefore, you’ll have no problem downloading at the top of your bandwidth!
- Stage6 uses a black background theme in comparison to the white of Youtube and it has a cooler design!
- Registered users could even have special access to a special category of videos! And you know what I’m talking about!
The only drawback is that you need to install the DivX Web Player first instead of the common Flash Player used by many other sites. It’s not too much trouble though in that it’s the very first prompt you receive when you get on the site that you need to download and install it first before you could fully rein up the site. All you need to do is click “Yes” to the very end.
